Welcome to the website for Honest Theatre! We believe in real, heart-felt communication and seek to welcome and showcase truth in all its many sizes and shapes. From deep and moving to quick and lighthearted, Honest Theatre believes that if a story either displays or invokes truth, it is worth sharing with others.
As of right now, we run on fumes, goodwill, and gifts from others. As far as ticketing, we are implementing a pay-what-you-can policy as an experiment during our first season. Regardless of where you are in life, we would love to share with you. So come. Join us. And let's be honest.
Our Mission Statement.
Honest Theatre strives to truthfully reflect humanity's beautiful, humorous, and fractured reality. It is our belief that good art should be accessible to everyone, and we are honored to give our stories as gifts to the public.
"Spike Heels is the funny and intriguing debut production by the Honest Theatre Company... Over the course of the 2 1/2-hour production, each character develops into someone you feel for and want to know more about..." --Entertaining Chicago
"Wow!... Directed by Kelly Levander, the action superbly moves from confrontation to wishful thinking to its interesting conclusion." --The Examiner
Honest is on Indiegogo!
Any Magic nerds in the house? The Dice Dojo in Uptown has agreed to host a tournament-style benefit for Honest Theatre. This is an amazing game and if you don't know how to play, it's easy to learn!
Our friends at the Dice Dojo are great. If you haven't visited the Dojo yet, you should know that they have the biggest free game-wall in all of Chicago - tons of board games to try, AND that they regularly host D&D and Pathfinder tournaments. If you've got some cash to burn, they carry hundreds of great games, card mats, figurines, etc. To top it all of, it's BYOB. At a table. With awesome new friends. And sick games.
If you come out on the 12th, the entry fee is $10 and will help support Honest Theatre, one of Uptown's newest troupes. This is a great company. They work hard, play hard, are passionate about good stories, and love to make new friends. If Magic's not your style, you should still stop by, let us introduce ourselves, maybe drop a couple of dollars in the bucket, and play ...oh, let's see... any game you can imagine!! See you there!
Come play Bingo with the fabulous Velicity Metropolis at The Glenwood Bar in Rogers Park! It's $5 for one card and $20 for five cards, and the cards are good for all ten rounds. There will be some great prizes! Stay tuned for more info on the prize support coming your way.
Proceeds will support Honest Theatre and if we get thirty-five people or more to attend, we'll get an additional 10% of bar sales! Thanks, Chad and Glenwood Bar staff!
